Seven weeks have elapsed since the Four Power Conference at Munich.

Today the outcome of those dark days is the chief topic of discussion. People had thought that the world would be plunged into another World War. This year at least the world will celebrate Christmas in peace.

Of the four men that represented the nations at this conference, the name Neville Chamberlain stands high in the estimation of the peace-living people of the world today. In a recent edition of the Montreal Standard a letter to the editor said, "The flights of Neville Chamberlain were planned before the crisis." We know such a statement as this is hardly true. Why did the citizens of London gather at Ten Downing Street to hear the outcome of his talks with Hitler?

If a man holding a position such as that of Chamberlain had planned these flights to Munich before the crisis, we are sure it was not for the sake of publicity.

Those days of seven weeks ago, were perhaps the darkest since the World War.

Did Neville Chamberlain make a lasting peace or just a postponement of another war? Time will tell.
