| Assemblies 1938-39 |
| On September 7, 1938 the first assembly was held in the Grade IX room when Deputy Wright of the N.S. Fire Board spoke on Fire Prevention. He especially thanked the town for the new extinguishers they have installed. He also warned of the fire hazards of the coming season. On September 28, Grades X, IX, XII, assembled in Grade IX room to hear Prime Minister Chamberlain's speech on the Czech Crisis. On November 14, the complete High School met in Grade IX room to see a motion picture entitled "White Magic." Mr. Fulton of Truro was in charge and the film was provided by Ben's Ltd. Of Nova Scotia. On November 17, the complete High School held a party at St. George's Hall. Between 70 and 80 attended and the evening was spent in a sing-song and games. Refreshments were served at 10:15 and the party broke up at 10:45. In our assemblies we must mention the radio which has been bought by the town for our school. It is a great asset and is used fully of an hour each day. Several educational programs are heard each week from Halifax. The High School pupils are very grateful to the School Board for procuring this radio. Willis Hall |
